And we have to serve up a solution that can marry both of those,” he said. “Each discipline has to understand the other’s desires. And, frankly, the IT and OT sides came to the project with different goals. Complexity with the network-design process required regular, lengthy meetings. There were stumbles with maintaining synergy among project-management teams and the IT/OT crews, and with systems integrators and end users. “It can be difficult for the human mind to adapt as quickly as the technology,” admitted Matos. First, many stakeholders were hesitant to change. The project wasn’t without its challenges, of course. “We wanted to make sure they were receptive and comfortable with these decisions.” “This was all about the end-user experience,” he said. These included PlantPAx DCS with virtualization and ControlLogix ® control systems, together with FactoryTalk ® VantagePoint EMI and ThinManager ® software from Rockwell Automation, complemented by ftServer and ztC Edge fault-tolerant computers from Stratus. Matos explained how control systems and software from Rockwell Automation, together with fault-tolerant computing platforms from Stratus Technologies, proved central to the campaign. The solutions they selected and implemented matched the complexity of the project. They attended conferences to collect insights from peers, competitors and solution providers. Next, Matos and his colleagues went shopping. (“We had a lot of flavors of PCs,” joked Matos.) And they demanded systems that offered 24/7 service and support programs. They wanted a better system to roll out upgrades. They needed a way to corral the 36 different applications they manage. They looked for hardware and software solutions that would optimize disaster-recovery efforts and make OT more manageable. To accomplish these goals, the Buckeye team envisioned a pilot program at their South Texas Gateway Terminal. The system would have to be scalable for additional applications down the road, and be able to fully integrate with the larger terminal operations. Some of the IT and OT workloads would be automated, freeing up personnel to tackle more important tasks. The efficiency goals they envisioned would hinge on strategic platform monitoring/protection. They wanted fewer moving parts and more-functional industrial computers at their disposal.Ī shift to predictive maintenance was central to the project - collecting data at the edge, integrating with hybrid cloud operations, and using real-time analytics and machine-learning models. They wanted to achieve longevity of the tools and systems they implemented (always a challenge in harsh environments). The senior manager and his team wanted to quicken IT/OT convergence across their facilities. Matos, who oversees Terminal Automation project planning and execution across all of his company’s oil-and-gas distribution terminals, shared how his team was reliant on systems that, quite frankly, weren’t intended for the modern scope of automation. “We were struggling with the technology used to support terminal automation,” explained Matos during the case study presentation. And they knew it was necessary to stay competitive. With 6,000 miles of pipeline, 115 terminals and 118-million-barrel tank capacity, his firm’s leaders knew their digital transformation was going to be complicated. Matos detailed the complex system of solutions implemented as part of the pipeline operator’s digital transformation. He explains how they use Rockwell Automation PlantPAx ® distributed control system (DCS) solutions and edge computing solutions from Rockwell Automation Technology Partner Stratus Technologies. One of the largest independent liquid petroleum products pipeline operators in the United States, Buckeye Partners owns and operates a diversified global network of assets that provides logistic solutions such as transportation, storage, processing and marketing of liquid petroleum products.Īngel Matos, Buckeye Partners’ senior manager of terminal automation applications, discussed in a presentation during the 2020 Automation Fair ® At Home event, how the company digitally transformed its business by encouraging the convergence of IT and operational technology (OT).

In Part 2, I will discuss how we keep learning and changing in positive ways. Choose what you want to do with your lives and make plans to do it deliberately, harmoniously and beneficially. We are made of joy and in this state, we cannot cause harm to others. So, we need to consciously live our lives harmoniously and in ways that benefit all. However, many of us fear change when in fact change is the only constant in our lives. We learn something new and change a little everyday without realizing. We can start at the bottom and thank God first, and then help ourselves to his abundance in nature. The above 7 steps can be followed in any order. Thanking God, as this brings blessings more easily.Helping yourself first to the abundance in the universe, and then you can help spread God’s love for all living beings.Using your own creative energy, gentle wisdom and pure love these traits are installed in us by the divine force in the universe.Embracing your own true self before you can embrace God and his gifts.Loving yourself before you can truly love anyone else, including God.Trusting God by trusting your own intuition. Knowing God, by knowing your own true self first. So how do we learn to live our true lives and be friends with God? This book provides us with 7 steps that can lead us to be friends with God and live ‘who we really are’. And by living authentically or in the image of God, we become friends with him. By living in harmony with our environment, we are living our true lives. To be our true selves, we need to love ourselves first, and only then will we be able to love all nature’s creations. We are all made of love, according to the author. We are all connected to each other by our own energies we breathe the same air, we all eat, work, talk and live on the same planet. We think ‘who we are’ is what other people think we should be, but we are all different yet united as one. What he reveals in this and his previous books, are the misconceptions we have about how we can be our true selves and also be friends with God. The author went through great hardships before he started channeling these books. So the title ‘Friendship with God’ was indeed very enticing. If we do not serve God properly or go against him, he will send us to hell. We are taught to fear, respect, serve God and that if we sin, then this same God will punish us. Most of us believe in a higher power and many religions teach us about this higher power or God. The title of this book, Friendship with God, was very intriguing, and the amazing revelation was that this book reveals the same theme as our book: being your true self. He is the popular author of the trilogy, Conversations with God, books 1 to 3. After finishing our book, The Dimensions of True Self – A Workbook for Living and Leading Authentically, I read a book called Friendship with God – An Uncommon Dialogue by Neale Donald Walsch. The grab at the end of Throat Piercing is a good combo ender since it leaves the opponent standing. Make use of the flying knee’s range at this point to catch them pressing a button. This will trick the opponent into thinking you made a mistake. A trick is to space yourself out so the first hit misses. She also has very fast projectiles that can frustrate opponents through mix ups.Ī great string for Mileena as the first hit is low and the second hit is a flying knee that hits mid. I prefer to use the Piercing Variation to increase damage on some normals and use good combo enders like Throat Piercing. Combine this with her good pokes and fast Ball Roll to give Mileena a very effective offense. She has slow, but hard hitting normals that potentially lead to over 35% combos without meter. This increases combo damage and builds a lot of meter on offense. When using Mileena, I like to take advantage of her ability to use multiple special moves in the same combo. It is not the most damaging use of meter, but it is still an interesting move. Or just end it with High Heel for less damage and no meter burn.įorward+3,4,3, Tele-Kick, Air Sai Blast, Ball Roll, High Heel. At minimum, it's hard to contest the assertion that such laws haven't had any real impact. In fall Public Interest, New York University law professor James Jacobs is very politically incorrect as he contends that criminal law is a poor tool to remedy hate crimes and that laws aimed at combating hate may exacerbate social tensions. But the issue's most provocative piece is James Fallows' cover story, which argues that the stunning rise and fall of American dominance in the semiconductor industry has very much to do with government ineptitude and is not explained by the reasons used to rationalize many American industrial failures, notably shortsighted management, stubborn unions and obsession with the short term. In more than four years of raising backyard chickens, we’ve discovered snakes, a possum, and a raccoon in our chicken coop. Losing even a few chickens from a small backyard flock is enough to make any homesteader sad, mad, and determined to outsmart those wily predators! …Then I’m sure you know the heartbreak of raising chicks to adulthood, only to have them nabbed by a predator just when they’ve started laying eggs. We’ve lost more than our fair share of birds over the years to a variety of predators, so I am thrilled to be welcoming Kathleen of Roots & Boots to the blog today–you are going to love her practical tips and detailed tutorial for building a chicken run of your own! If you’ve kept chickens for any amount of time… Building a Chicken Run with Kathleen From Roots & Boots Using a shovel or fork walk through your chicken run and remove any wet areas and manure then replace them with a fresh cover. The number of chickens, the amount of space, and the type of floor covering will determine how often your run will have to be cleaned out. You will need to consider your environment when choosing your coverage. This can include straw, sand, wood shavings, gravel, or a mixture of different kinds. The easiest way to have a clean chicken run is to have a floor covering that can be removed and replaced. Keeping a clean chicken run is important to the health of your chickens. If you are using a chicken tractor or moveable fencing then muddy floors aren’t usually a problem and cleaning isn’t a concern. Chickens will leave you will just dirt in a short period of time (this can get quite messy). If you are using a stationary run you will need to figure out if you will use a ground cover. Birds such as hawks and owls can be a problem from above these can affect the width of your run or determine if it should have a roof.Īs I mentioned before chicken runs can be a fixed fenced-in area but they don’t have to be. Stray dogs, coyotes, and foxes will also dig but can jump a shorter fence. Small predators like raccoons and opossums will climb or dig ( to prevent digging, bury a section of the fence) their way in. The type of predators you are trying to keep away from your chickens is another consideration. Keep in mind there are some breeds that are known for flying over a 6-foot fence. Most chickens can easily make it over a 4-foot fence so many recommend a height of 6 feet. The type of chickens you have should be considered when you are considering the height of your fence. 10 square feet per chicken is a good estimate to start with. A good place to start is by knowing how many square feet per chicken to have. The size of your chicken run will depend on how many chickens you plan on putting in it. Things to consider when designing your chicken run: You want to design a chicken run that is right for your situation, everyone has a different reason for needing a chicken run. ( You see how we did it in this Youtube Video) Building Your Chicken Runīefore you start building your chicken run there are different things that you should take into consideration. Another great way to use your chicken run for homesteading work is to add your compost pile to it. You can build a chicken tractor which is sort of like a portable chicken run, it allows you to protect and contain your chickens while using their Chicken Power Around the Homestead. Most chicken runs are connected to chicken coops (learn more about chicken coops by reading Beginners Guide to Chicken Coops) so they can go in and out as often as they wish, but they don’t have to be. Containment – Keep your chickens in the area you would likeĬhicken runs are fenced in spaces outside the coop, allowing your chickens to get some fresh air and “run around”.Chickens can be destructive to plants and gardens.Chicken runs have become the answer for those situations where free-ranging chickens just is not an option. Why Build a Chicken Run?Įveryone loves the idea of chickens ranging free, pecking, scratching, and catching bugs but it doesn’t always work that way. (For a little extra help have a listen to the Podcast episode Getting Chickens for the First Time?)īasics you need to learn about include: What to feed your chickens (We feed a whole grain, non-GMO recipe that you can find in Natural Homestead: 40 Recipes for Critters & Crops), where to house them, and whether they will be free-range or need a chicken run. If this is your first year buying those feed store chicks or chickens in general then there are a few you basic things you will need to know. After all these years I still have a hard time passing up those feed store chick sales, I can’t seem to resist the urge to bring home a few new additions. When booking at the state park, aim for campsites 12-16 on any loop, these will put you closest to the dune that separates you from the beach. The water will be slightly colder but definitely bearable. So I recommend booking months in advanced or go in the off-season, which would be late May and August. As it approaches tourist season you will notice it will be harder to find availability. We chose the state park for two reasons: cheaper rates and more availability. Each camping loop has at least one dune crossover to the beach. However, the State Park has only one entrance through the dunes in day-use and the National Park has two. offers an Over-Sand Vehicle (OSV) zone (The permit fee ranges from $70 to $150, depending upon the type of access desired).A $15 7-day entrance fee per vehicle is also required) offers backcountry camping (A 7-day backcountry permit is $6 per person ages 16 years and older.also allow pets (dogs must be on a 6-foot leash).open fires are allowed with permission from the Park Ranger Station.registration is available 24 hours a day online.pets are allowed in the day-use beach area from October 1 to April 30.
